Pastor Cornell Watson Sr is the Ninth Pastor at Zoar

Cornell Angelo Watson Sr. was Born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Reverend Dr. Eugene C. Watson and Inez F. Watson. He Made a Personal Profession of Faith and was Baptized at Age Seven. He Answered God’s Call to Preach While Employed as a Master Trooper and Pursuit Driving / Defensive Tactics Instructor with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. He Delivered His Initial Sermon at the Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church Windsor, North Carolina under the leadership of Reverend  Dr. Shelton R. Barnes. 

 He was introduced to expository preaching by his father and has since developed a unique style to carefully explain the Scripture in a way that is radical and relevant. He has attended Elizabeth City State University and Shaw University. He has earned A.A. and B.A. degrees in Biblical Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis Mo. and is currently a student at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University Richmond, Virginia pursuing a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degree in Christian education.

Cornell is licensed and ordained by the Baptist Church and the Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ denominations. He has served several churches over the years as an Assistant, Interim, Executive and Senior Pastor. He is the Co-founder and organizer of the Friendship Community Baptist Church Greenville and Glenview, NC. He is presently the Senior Pastor of the historical Zoar Baptist Church Pendleton, N.C. He is one of the Moderators of the Northampton County and Vicinity Baptist Association and serves as the Director of Christian Education. He is a active member of the NAACP, the Halifax County Coalition for Education and Economic Security, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. He is a certified Nero-Linguistic Practitioner and entrepreneur.

 He is married to Tina his soul mate, business partner, and ministerial companion. They reside in Littleton, N.C.
